At once both incredibly simple and highly sophisticated, the Ball Chair in red wool is among the best-known of all mid-century furniture classics. Created by Eero Aarnio for his own home in 1963, it still looks breathtakingly modern more than half a century later. What you may not know about the Ball Chair is that it is not just eye-catching but also extremely comfortable. Unlike almost any other chair – except perhaps for Aarnio’s later Bubble – it creates a space in which to sit that separates you from the outside world. The ball is both a chair and its own little world.
